LOUIS MOINET - “Vertalis” Tourbillon
Louis Moinet is proud to present what many experts already consider to be one of the world’s finest tourbillons. The unique VERTALIS model features an innovative aesthetic concept distinguished by a modern and original blend of technology and design. As its name implies, the difference here is all about verticality: VERTALIS intensifies the magic of the tourbillon by connecting its carriage to the barrel by means of a hand-drawn and bevelled vertical bar. To add to the fascinating vision of the tourbillon carriage in motion, VERTALIS offers an openworked version of the barrel. The latter’s cover performs an average rotation in 6 hours and enables one to keep visual check on the power reserve according to the state of wind of the barrel spring.
Louis Moinet displays its determination to combine aesthetic and technical aspects, particularly through the vertical bar that showcases the technology of the watch, while extending over onto the case. This original and modern way of uniting displays, technology and casing is directly inspired by the historical world of Louis Moinet, and especially by some of the drawings published in his famous Traité d’Horlogerie in 1848.
LIMITED EDITION OF 12
Crafted in a limited edition of 12, the exclusive VERTALIS tourbillon movement is hand-wound and beats at a cadence of 21,600 vibrations per hour. One particularly striking technical characteristic is the spectacular visibility of the winding mechanism through the case-back. The “octopus” spring plays three roles by acting as pull-out piece spring, lever spring and click spring.
VERTALIS is presented in an exceptional new case composed of 50 different parts. It highlights the union of two gold colours: the warm shade of 5N rose gold, and the white gold that accentuates and pursues the geometrical effect of the vertical bar. The dial features “Côtes du Jura”® against a black background enhanced with rose gold hour-markers. The case is also equipped with the Louis Moinet crown guard, incorporating the stem in such a way as to enable easy replacement if required (patent pending).

Jaeger LeCoultre AMVOX2 DBS Transponder
Aston Martin is delighted to announce, in conjunction with its watch partner Jaeger LeCoultre, the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder, the first watch developed with the ability to control access into a luxury sports car.
The watch, which will be showcased on the eve of the Paris Motor Show, is a fusion of traditional watchmaking expertise and high-tech engineering. Crafted exclusively for owners of the Aston Martin DBS, the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder is yet another example that demonstrates the design and engineering collaboration between these two long-established companies; both leaders in their respective fields and partners since 2004.
By integrating the transponder circuit into the body of the watch, Jaeger-LeCoultre has created a timepiece that is entirely functional yet discrete, a masterpiece of miniaturisation and engineering that not only functions as a chronograph but as a key, making it the ultimate accessory for the ultimate sports car.
Only Aston Martin dealerships will be able to authorize the timepiece to 'read' and communicate with the owner's specific DBS, ensuring that security and privacy are maintained at all times.
A powerful design inspired by cutting-edge engineering
The case and dial of the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder are highly detailed, featuring a suspended metallic grey DBS symbol, a discrete Aston Martin emblem on the movement operating indicator and ruthenium grey bridges, satin finish and a black dial that all evoke the DBS's instrument panel. The outer dial ring also has an opening that reveals the internal mechanisms of the chronograph and transponder functions, an allusion to the exposed brake callipers visible behind the sporting wheel rims of the DBS car.
The AMVOX2 DBS Transponder watch is a landmark in chronograph design, a timepiece that works in true synergy with the most spectacular and elegant luxury sports car on the market. A true collaboration between engineers from two distinguished brands with a collective history of innovation and elegance, the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder is a modern timepiece that truly demonstrates Aston Martin's core values and Jaeger-LeCoultre's mastery of high watchmaking.
Dr Ulrich Bez, Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin said: "This is the definitive expression of the partnership between Aston Martin and Jaeger-LeCoultre, I'm delighted that we have been able to premiere this technology in such an elegant solution. It is the first time horology and automotive engineering have been combined in this way."
Jerome Lambert, Chief Executive Officer of Jaeger-LeCoultre said: "This is one of the most exciting projects our team has developed in the area of functional innovation in watchmaking. Ferrari and Panerai Unveil a New Watch Collection at the British International Motor Show
Ferrari Engineered by Officine Panerai Watch Collection Debuts at the British International Motor Show
Time and Sport: An all Italian fusion:
Ferrari Engineered by Officine Panerai is delighted to announce its debut at the British International Motor Show. The collection of high-end watches from the luxury Italian watch brand Officine Panerai will be on public display for the first time at this year's 'Ultimate Collection' at the ExCeL Centre in Docklands.
Great passion, and also technology, design, style, class, tradition and sports qualities are all elements that unite Officine Panerai and Ferrari, two names representing the highest level of "made in Italy" creativity throughout the world.
This range of watches is divided into two collections, Scuderia and Granturismo. The fusion between Panerai and Ferrari is illustrated by the parallels in the appearance of a chronograph with buttons and the rear view of a Ferrari: the Prancing Horse which stands out at the centre, buttons that resemble Ferrari tail lights, the profile of the case, and the convex crystal like the rear window.
Engraved on the cases and bracelets of all the 19 models presented from 2006 until now, three of which are special editions and particularly precious and exclusive watches, is an inscription that expresses and illustrates the working practice of the watch engineers. It reads: Engineered by Officine Panerai. It's a matter of meticulous, precise research carried out by observing in a precise and painstaking manner all Ferrari models created in its 60 year history. This has been at the font of inspiration in achieving the production of a range of watches in which the best materials, and a manic attention to detail, merge into perfection.
Four new models have been added to the collection in 2008:
Ferrari 10 Days GMT £8,900 (Scuderia Collection)
Ferrari 8 Days Chrono Monopulsante GMT Classic £10,400 (Granturismo collection)
Ferrari 1/8th Second £10,400 (Special Edition)
Ferrari Chronograph £28,300 (Special Edition)
The watches will be on display at the British International Motor Show from Tuesday, July 22nd – Sunday, August 3rd. (...)

BRABUS Tuning for the C 63 AMG
High performance made by BRABUS is now also available for the new C 63 AMG. The BRABUS B63 S performance kit
adds a whopping 73 hp (72 bhp) / 53.7 kW to the rated power output of the 6.2-liter V8 engine, and propels the car to a new top speed of 315 km/h (197 mph). In addition, BRABUS offers a wide range of exclusive accessories from a limited-slip rear differential to custom-tailored 19-inch wheels complete with corresponding high-performance tires, from a height adjustable coil-over suspension and generously dimensioned high-performance brakes to exclusive interior options.
The BRABUS engine specialists have developed the B63 S performance kit specifically for the fast-revving engine of the Mercedes C 63 AMG. It consists of free-flow high-performance metal catalysts, sport air filters and newly programmed engine electronics with custom mapping for ignition and injection. Together these components result in an increase in power
output from 457 hp (450 bhp) / 336 kW to 530 hp (523 bhp) / 390 kW. Peak torque grows from 600 Nm to 650 Nm (442 to 479 lb-ft).
Also part of the conversion is the BRABUS Vmax unit, available in two versions for top speeds of 300 or 315 km/h (188 or 197 mph). Acceleration performance also improves with the added power: The sprint from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) is shortened from 4.5 to 4.1 seconds; 200 km/h (124 mph) is reached after 13.1 seconds, down from 14.5 seconds for the
production car.
The impressive top speed of the BRABUS-tuned C 63 AMG necessitates precise modifications to tires, suspension and brakes. The electronically limited top speed of 315 km/h (197 mph) is possible thanks to 19-inch high-performance tires from Pirelli or YOKOHAMA. The tires in size 235/35 ZR 19 in front and in size 265/30 ZR 19 on the rear axle are mounted on multi-piece BRABUS Monoblock VI, E or S light-alloy wheels. The front axle features these wheels in size 8.5Jx19, the rear axle in size 9.5Jx19.
The large wheels provide the necessary space for the BRABUS high-performance brake system. It features vented and grooved 380 x 37 millimeter (15 x 1.45 inches) brake discs and 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the front axle. The rear axle stops with 360 x 28 millimeter (14.2 x 1.1 inches) discs and 6-piston aluminum fixed calipers. These high-tech
brakes can keep even the enormous performance of a tuned C 63 safely in check at all times.
The height-adjustable BRABUS coil-over suspension features gas-pressure shocks with ten selectable settings each for bound and rebound. It offers a sporty yet comfortable ride as well as agile handling with large safety reserves.
The palette of exclusive BRABUS accessories for the interior of the C-Class sedan ranges from scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo to the ‘BRABUS Race’ shifter.
Upon customer request the company-own upholstery shop creates especially exclusive BRABUS interiors crafted from a select combination of especially soft yet durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara. (...)

New Colour Combinations For The “Bugatti Veyron Fbg Par Hermès”
The “Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès”, revealed to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year, was presented on Friday, 15th August at “The Quail, a Motorsport Gathering” on the Monterey Peninsula. This show has become the highlight in what is a whirlwind of ten days of events every August, when car enthusiasts from around the world gather in Monterey to celebrate the ultimate in automotive design and engineering.
This unique version of the “Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès” was first launched in Geneva in complimentary tones of ebony and étoupe and ebony and brick. In order to give the customer a wider range of options Hermès and Bugatti have developped four new colours schemes in line with the heritage and the values of the two houses. Therefore, the “Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès” is now also available in these exclusive combinations : “indigo blue and vermilion”, “indigo blue and lime green”, “ black and garance red” and “Prussian blue and blue jean”.
The «Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès” associates Bugatti’s technical performance with the expertise of Hermès and its craftsmen. In partnership with Hermès, designer Gabriele Pezzini has married the distinctive Hermès style to the legendary Bugatti Veyron 16.4, magnifying the car’s personality.
This remarkable car features an array of exceptional characteristics: the innovative alliance of a technologically advanced engine, delivering 1001 horsepower, with an understated yet uncompromising silhouette reflecting the high performance capacities of state-of-the-art engineering and design, and above all, the pleasure these inspire in every Bugatti owner.
The fascination exerted by this sports coupé, capable of reaching 407 km/h, is due in large part to its unique alliance of the very finest motor-racing technology with comfortable handling for everyday driving. The 16-cylinder “W” configuration engine is fed by four turbochargers and features 64 valves, generating 1001 horsepower at 6000 rpm. The engine draws on its 8-litre displacement to deliver a maximum torque of 1250 Newton-metres between 2200 and 5500 rpm. With full-time all-wheel drive, the car’s phenomenal power produces breath-takingly dynamic handling, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.5 seconds. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 benefits from aeronautical and aerospace technologies, making it the fastest production car ever made. The car also features a braking system designed to deliver unprecedented powers of deceleration, establishing a new industry benchmark. The carbon-fibre discs provide brake pressure of up to 180 bars, combined with eight-piston monobloc callipers and titanium pistons fitted with fine steel heads and ceramic heat protectors. Apply the brakes at speeds above 200 km/h, and the rear wing acts as an airbrake, positioning itself at an angle of 113 degrees in less than 0.4 seconds, augmenting the Bugatti Veyron’s already impressive stopping power. The airbrake increases negative lift at the rear of the car to 300 kg, enhancing the braking torque on the rear axle. At 400 km/h, emergency braking will bring the sports car to a complete halt in less than 10 seconds.
This, the world’s most fascinating car, has pushed back the limits of physical engineering to offer a completely new sensation for driver and passenger alike. But it has also adopted a radically different stance to that of other sports cars: its features and finish are sure to impress the most demanding clientele. Hermès and designer Gabriele Pezzini have lavished attention on the interior and exterior of this exceptional car, to create the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4: the “Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès”.
A HARMONIOUS DESIGN, INSIDE AND OUT
The official name of the highly exclusive Bugatti Veyron “Fbg par Hermès” refers to the historic Hermès headquarters on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in the heart of Paris’s eight arrondissement: the “Fbg” appellation evokes the house’s “faubourg” address.
With the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès, the exacting standards of Émile Hermès and Ettore Bugatti come together for the first time, in an exceptional collaboration: the culmination of their extreme attention to aesthetic and technological quality and performance.
Gabriele Pezzini has reinterpreted Bugatti’s traditional two-toned carriage work, fostering a fluid, harmonious transition between the car’s exterior and interior design. The colour of the hood extends to the interior of the cockpit, and re-emerges behind, at the level of the rear wing.
As a tribute to the celebrated 1924 Bugatti Type 35, undoubtedly the most famous of all time, thanks to its many successes on the racetrack, the new Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès features eight-spoked wheels in polished aluminium, central butterfly wheel locks branded with the letter H, and air vents around the rims reproducing the characteristics appearance of Hermès saddle-stitching. The horseshoe radiator grille, and the lateral ventilation grilles flanking it, are made from lightweight alloys with a design of interlocking H’s evoking the Hermès “signature”.
A REFINED FORMAL VOCABULARY
The inner surfaces of the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès have been designed and sheathed in bull calfskin by the Hermès workshops in Paris. The care and attention to detail observe an extremely refined, minimalist formal vocabulary, reflecting the tradition of the very first Bugattis and the fundamental design principles of the house of Hermès. The door handles echo the fluid forms of handles on Hermès travel bags and luggage.
And the dashboard, traditionally finished in brushed aluminium, is here clad entirely in bull calfskin. Passengers aboard the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès will find a dashboard glove compartment designed to hold a selection of small travel accessories and a zipped Hermès wallet. Both seats are covered in two-toned bull calfskin, and the panel separating the cockpit from the central rear engine – traditionally made of carbon fibre- is covered in the same fine leather. The leather-lined trunk holds a specially-fitted “Toile H” and leather case, hand-made by the craftmen from the Hermès workshops.
This exceptional car is priced at 1.55 million Euros (not including taxes) and is available at the end of 2008. (...)

Audi R8 GT3
The FIA GT3 championship is considered the future of GT racing, offering large grids with many different cars with their own strengths and weaknesses. It certainly is a cheaper way for manufacturers to get involved, and yet be sure to entering a very high level competition.
Audi decided to give it a go and their machine will be the R8. As AWD are not accepted, engineers switched their baby to RWD, 500HP engine, 6 speed sequential gearbox and new bodywork to give the car much needed downforce for flying around corners.
Dr Wolfgang Ullrich said, "Ever since the R8 was unveiled we’ve been inundated with enquiries about a race version. With the Audi R8 we will offer customers a racing sportscar equipped with high-calibre technology and the typical Audi qualities, but which is nevertheless easy to handle.”
The GT3 R8 is expected somewhere near the top of the grid in 2009. (...)

Kicherer Audi RS6 Avant
More Audi love from the german tuners and especially for the incredible V10 engine powering the RS6, the same engine that stands in the Gallardo BUT with a couple turbos to add some "much needed" (cough) juice...and it's got some sort of potential...
The guys at Kicherer went the usual way (ECU tweaking, weight reduction, interior/exterior customization, exhaust...) to put 700hp and 780nm, enough to scare you family with a rocket start, 0-100 in 4.3 seconds en route to 280kmh that should make everyone very quiet behind you.
Joke aside, this is another proof that the Audi RS6 is the most amazing super-luxury-estate money can buy in 2008. (...)

ABT Audi RS6 Avant
Sometimes all a man wants is to go fast from point A to B. Sometimes we don't even want to designate a point B to keep on going fast, but then we have to drop the kids at school and other silly things unless...unless you're driving this car: the ABT Audi RS6 Avant.
With a look like this, your wife won't suspect anything and you'll still create envy and fear in the eyes of your neighbors. What we're talking about is a Twin Turbo V10 engine and an All Wheel Drive Quattro System.
Straight out of your nearest Audi showroom you'd get 580 bhp and that's enough to annihilate 99.99% of anything road legal, but the guys at ABT have decided the engine has more potential.
How they did it is irrelevant (probably lots of ECU tuning and more), but they managed to get 700hp and 800nm out of the RS6 Avant, arguably the quickest family estate a man can get at the moment.
0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds and top speed of 200mph. (...)

New Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
The world's most significant celebration of the automobile takes place annually in Monterey, California. This year it will see some of the most elegant, exclusive, and valuable vehicles ever produced in over 100 years of motoring, with Bugatti set to play a prominent role. On the evening prior to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the highlight of the event, the marque renowned for impeccable automotive solutions, aesthetics and driving dynamics will unveil a second model to the world – the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport with a unique removable roof.
In response to customer demand, significant modifications have been made to the vehicle's complex structure to make possible open-top driving, thereby adding a new dimension to this high-performance sports car. Incorporating a host of new and innovative safety and equipment features, it is the world's fastest and most exciting roadster. It is immediately recognizable as a result of its slightly higher windscreen, stylized daytime running lights, and lightweight, transparent polycarbonate roof.
The main challenge in developing the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport with removable roof resulted from the unique structure of the fixed-roof Bugatti Veyron. An optimum combination of rigidity and lightweight engineering ensures the monocoque passenger cell of the original model is extremely strong while weighing an absolute minimum – it is a central element of the vehicle's structure. As the roof is an integral part of this, removing it meant the load paths had to be completely redesigned to maintain the vehicle's rigidity and crash safety, and to offer additional protection from side impacts and rolling.
As a result, the monocoque structure has been reinforced around the side skirts and the transmission tunnel. The B-pillars have been cross-stiffened using a carbon fibre support, and a central carbon plate has been positioned beneath the transmission tunnel to ensure the vehicle suffers from less torsional flexing than any other roadster.
The doors of the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport are made of carbon fibre, and house an integrated longitudinal beam.
In the event of an accident, this transfers the load from the A to the B-pillar, thereby dissipating impact energy. Furthermore, the two redesigned air intakes for the 16-cylinder mid-engine now feature 10-centimetre wide carbon-fibre elements to offer protection should the car roll.
Along with moisture-resistant, backstitched leather, a range of new equipment features has been added to the interior, including a reversing camera with 2.7-inch monitor in the rear-view-mirror, and the "Puccini" sound system with digital signal processor. When the roof is closed, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport can reach 407 km/h, while speeds of up to 360 km/h are possible with roof off. Should it rain, an innovative folding roof stored in the luggage compartment can be opened up like an umbrella at any time. When this folding roof is in place, the car can travel at up to 130 km/h. Assembled by hand at the company's headquarters in Molsheim, Alsace, the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport will be available from March 2009 at the price of 1.4 million euros (excluding tax). Just 150 examples will be made, with the first 50 of these going exclusively to registered Bugatti customers.
The first vehicle is certain to be highly sought after, and Bugatti has taken the decision to donate this specific car to charity. It will be sold to the highest bidder at the Pebble Beach Auction presented by Gooding & Company. (...)

Spyker C8 Aileron
Spyker Cars N.V., manufacturer of exclusive premium sports cars, is again present at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Carmel, California, USA, from Wednesday August 13, until Sunday August 17, 2008. Spyker has attended this event since its rebirth in 2000 and is present for the eighth consecutive time.
The presence of Spyker marks the US debut of the all aluminium LWB model Spyker C8 Aileron. On Sunday, August 17, during the Annual Concept Car Display on the Concept Lawn in front of The Lodge at Pebble Beach, the Spyker C8 Aileron will be prominently displayed.
>From Thursday, August 14, through Sunday, August 17, a C8 Spyder and a C8 Laviolette will be on display at the Spyker stand on Peter Hay Hill. Two additional Spykers will be on display at the McCalls Motorworks event on Wednesday, August 13 and at the Quail Lodge on Friday, August 15.
Spyker C8 Aileron (concept car)
Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6, Spyker is proud to introduce the concept of its second generation C-line sports car in the United States of America. The Long Wheel Base model C8 Aileron can be specified with either manual or automatic transmission. The all aluminium C8 Aileron continues Spyker’s signature architecture (applied since its inception in 2000 with the C8 Spyder) of a mid-engined configuration in an aluminium space frame, clad in aluminium body panels.
The Aileron’s space frame is an advanced design from its original, as seen on the first generation of the Spyker models: its torsional rigidity was improved by 40% without adding any weight. Its dimensions have been modified, increasing the wheelbase by 100 mm / 4.5 inches for improved road handling, more cockpit space and to suit the automatic gearbox. Furthermore, its front track was widened and as a result the car is virtually ‘square’.
The Aileron will continue to use a 4.2 litre V8 producing 400 BHP. This engine is mated to a 6 speed Getrag manual or a 6 speed automatic ZF gearbox. Every Aileron will be equipped with a Kharma sound system, incorporating a GPS system, Bluetooth, CD player and I-pod connectivity. The Spyker C8 Aileron is scheduled to go into production at the end of 2008.
Spyker C8 Spyder & Laviolette
The Spyker C8 is an advanced mid-engine, two-seat sports car, available in both coupe (Laviolette) and convertible (Spyder). It is characterized by a distinctive design, a lightweight all aluminium body construction and an uncompromising engineering package.
Both the Laviolette and Spyder have an all aluminium Audi V8 engine producing 400 bhp and generating 480 Nm of torque. This is paired to a manual six-speed gearbox, driving the rear wheels with a limited slip differential and ABS. The New Audi RS 6: The Confidently Superior Sports Sedan from Quattro GmbH
# Twin-turbo V10 producing 426 kW (580 hp) and 650 Nm of torque.
# Racing-inspired direct injection and dry-sump lubrication
# A wealth of high-tech for superior performance
426 kW (580 hp) and 650 Nm (479.42 lb-ft) of torque – with its twin-turbo V10 and Quattro permanent all-wheel drive, the Audi RS 6 is a car without equal. Following on the heels of the RS 6 Avant, Audi now presents this sedan. It drives like a supercar thanks to its superior performance and thrilling dynamics, yet offers all of the everyday utility of a large business sedan.
The engine of the new Audi RS 6 is a high-tech work of art. The 4,991 cc V10 bundles a number of Audi’s race-winning technologies – FSI direct fuel injection, dry-sump lubrication and two turbochargers. With up to 1.6 bar of boost pressure, these provide smooth, powerful thrust and an incomparable power band: The peak torque of 650 Nm (479.42 lb-ft) is available from 1,500 to 6,250 rpm and thus nearly over the entire rev range. Peak power of 426 kW (580 hp) is generated between 6,250 rpm and the maximum figure of 6,700 rpm.
With a power-to-weight ratio of 3.4 kilograms per hp, the Audi RS 6 performs like a supercar. It catapults to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 4.5 seconds on its way to an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph), which can be optionally raised to 280 km/h (173.98 mph). The V10 responds immediately and spontaneously to the throttle, and is very smooth while accelerating with a powerful roar.
The engine’s power flows through the six-speed tiptronic, one of a new, dynamic generation of Audi automatic transmissions. Its reaction time has been reduced to one tenth of a second, shift time has been halved compared to units used in other models and transmission ratios are short. The driver can also manually change gears either using the shift lever or the paddles on the steering wheel. The tiptronic transmission transfers the power to an extremely sporty, rear-weighted Quattro drive train.
Precision high-tech suspension
The technology bundled into the suspension of the Audi RS 6 guarantees an amazing performance experience. The front axle features four lightweight aluminum control arms per wheel, whose elastokinematics have been designed for particularly sporty performance. The characteristics of the speed-dependent servotronic power steering were retuned and the steering gear ratio is a direct 12.5:1. The rear suspension kinematics have also been modified.
The development engineers have also deployed an exclusive damping technology: Dynamic Ride Control DRC reduces pitch and roll using purely mechanical means. Hydraulic lines and valves connect diagonally opposed pairs of shock absorbers. When cornering, the flow of fluid to the damper of the compressing outside front wheel increases, providing firmer support and reducing roll. When combined with the sports suspension plus, DRC offers a choice of three selectable damper settings – sport, dynamic and comfort – which can be activated via the MMI.
The electronic stabilization system ESP offers maximum driving fun with uncompromised safety. Its relatively high activation threshold encourages a dynamic driving style. It offers a Sport mode and can also be deactivated entirely.
The new Audi RS 6 rolls on 19-inch alloy wheels shod with 255/40 tires. Up front, six-piston fixed aluminum calipers – painted black and decorated with RS badges – clamp down on 390 millimeter brake disks. The rear brake disks measure 365 millimeters in diameter. The rear axle features single-piston floating brake calipers. The floating steel disks feature large cooling ducts and axial perforations for enhanced performance and less weight.
9.5J x 20-inch wheels are offered as an option. These allow the use of a ceramic brake system. The 420 (front) and 356 (rear) millimeter disks weigh a total of 12.2 kilograms (26.90 lb) less than the steel disks. The calipers – up front with eight pistons – are painted anthracite and labeled “Audi ceramic.”
The body of the 4.93 meter (16.17 ft) RS 6 also sports a number of distinctive features that immediately identify it as a dynamic, top-of-the-line model. These include the single-frame grill, the air intakes, the headlights featuring xenon plus, adaptive light and RS 6-specific LED daytime running lights, the flared fenders and deep side skirts, the rear diffuser, the spoiler integrated into the trunk lid and the two large oval exhaust pipes.
The finest of materials and uncompromised quality
Like all Audi RS models developed and built by Quattro GmbH in cooperation with AUDI AG, the RS 6 is the embodiment of power, elegance, exclusivity and perfection. The interior is adorned with the finest of materials such as carbon fiber, aluminum, piano lacquer, leather and Alcantara in tried-and-tested Audi quality.
The deeply sculpted sports seats provide optimal support and firm hold. The power-adjustable seats are upholstered in Silk Nappa leather, with leather/Alcantara and Valcona leather available as options. Bucket seats with an even more sporty emphasis are also offered for both driver and front passenger. Standard equipment includes the dual-zone deluxe automatic air conditioning plus, a parking assistant at front and rear, an RS leather multifunction sports steering wheel with flat-bottomed rim and a Bose surround sound system. A boost pressure indicator for the two turbochargers in the driver information system rounds out the instrumentation.
The options are also pure hi-tech: Audi lane assist helps to keep the car in its lane, adaptive cruise control maintains a constant distance to the car ahead and Audi side assist helps the driver change lane safely. The Audi Bluetooth car phone integrates perfectly with the driver’s cell phone to make even using the phone a luxurious experience. It is integrated into the standard MMI operating system, a new generation of which is making its debut in the Audi RS 6.
The Audi RS 6 will be launched on the market in mid-October. The starting price in Germany including VAT is 105,550 euros. (...)
