HUBLOT UNVEILS THE F1 TM KING POWER IN SHANGHAI, THE OFFICIAL WATCH OF FORMULA 1 TM
Following on from the recent announcement that Hublot has been chosen as the "Official Watchmaker" of Formula 1TM, the brand presented the Official Watch of Formula 1TM, the F1 TM King Power in Shanghai today.
Hublot was appointed the "Official Watchmaker" by the Formula 1TM umbrella organisation in March. This agreement provides access behind the scenes at F1TM. The prestigious world of motor racing is a source of fascination. It represents both cutting-edge technology, the ultimate in precision, control and top-level sport. For the Hublot brand, which is based on luxury, a tradition of quality, excellence and advanced technological research, the world of the paddocks forms one of its most prestigious partnerships and is a clear culmination of its strategy to be visible to its clients, wherever they may be. The creation of a special watch, in the form of a King Power displaying the "F1" logo, is the fruit of the collaboration between the F1 TM heads and Hublot's watch creators.
Inspired by the world of F1TM, combining expertise with the highest quality, manufacturing processes at the cutting edge of research and high-tech materials, this zirconium watch is 48mm in diameter and its bezel has been designed to evoke the disc brakes on a Formula 1 TM car. Its strap is made up of two layers, featuring rubber on the inside and NomexTM, a material similar to that used to make racing drivers' overalls, on the outside. Both sporty and high-tech, the F1 TM King Power was enthusiastically received by those present when it was unveiled in Shanghai by Hublot's CEO, Jean-Claude Biver. The brand also opened its first boutique in the Formula 1 TM Paddock Club.
Jean-Claude Biver, Hublot's CEO, is full of enthusiasm: "I have always had great admiration for the exceptional and unique achievements of Bernie Ecclestone. Without him there would be no Formula 1: He created this global phenomenon! I have also had a great deal of admiration for the drivers who are able to control these ultra-sophisticated racing machines down to the slightest movement, all at incredible speed! Nor should we forget the cradle of high technology that F1 represents. It's such a delight to be here with Hublot today, so close to Bernie, the racing, the drivers, the cars, the high technology and the F1 Grand Prix in general".
Bernie Ecclestone, CEO of the Formula One Group: "I have long had a keen interest in watches and the art of watchmaking and I am very pleased to be able to discover this magnificent watch today with Jean-Claude. Hublot's meteoric rise in the industry has been a very well-managed achievement and I would like to congratulate Jean-Claude for this. There is an energy, creativity and dedication to perfection about Hublot which sits very well with us and I could not think of a better brand with which to begin a new chapter in Formula 1's enduring association with luxury watches". CHOPARD - L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon
It has distinctive character, undeniable power and represents a deliberate break with traditional watch design principles. This mechanical marvel is powered by an exceptional “motor”, proprietary L.U.C Calibre 1TRM. Machined like an engine block and mounted on silent-blocks, this mechanical hand-wound tourbillon movement was designed, developed and produced at Chopard Manufacture. Like the most coveted sports cars, the titanium L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon is naturally issued in a limited edition.
To celebrate Chopard's 150th anniversary as well as the decades of passion it has shared with the world of motor sports, the Geneva-based brand is introducing this new L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon model combining the finest elements of the two forms of mechanical expression. From its strong lines to the most subtle details, everything about this powerful timepiece honours the automobile spirit also admirably accentuated by a fine watch movement machined like an engine block.
This L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon model houses a proprietary mechanical hand-wound tourbillon movement, L.U.C Calibre 1TRM. In much the same way as a car engine, this movement is mounted on silent blocks – that absorb shocks – and held by three lever arms inserted into the case middle. This L.U.C Calibre 1TRM designed, developed and produced by Chopard Manufacture beats at a cadence of 28,800 vibrations per hour and boasts a 60-hour power reserve. Chronometer-certified by the COSC, a sure token of reliability and precision, this tourbillon movement drives displays of the hours, minutes, seconds and the power reserve.
In keeping with automobile traditions, the reamed engine block bears the Chopard signature; while a circular segment directly fixed to the upper face of the movement carries the power-reserve display at 12 o'clock positioned opposite the tourbillon bridge at 6 o'clock featuring a design that is a first for Chopard.
Representing a magnificent mechanical feat of engineering, the L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon is distinguished not only by its high-end motorisation, but also by its bodywork that endows it with an inimitably sophisticated style. The titanium case is water-resistant to 50 metres and features alternating polished and satin-brushed finishes; it also carries slightly curved applied lugs that enhance the overall dynamic effect. Streamlined like car wings, these lugs ensure excellent wearer comfort and a perfect fit on the wrist for the opulent 35.4 x 44.4 mm case.
The dial is also inspired by the automobile world and plays on the theme of transparency. The new Arabic numerals characteristic of the L.U.C collection and the hour-markers are engraved and black-tinted beneath the glare-resistant sapphire crystal.
The hand-sewn black alligator leather strap setting the perfect finishing touch to this model is enhanced by four reinforced inserts evoking the seats of classic racing cars.
Vividly embodying the strong ties between the automobile world and that of fine watchmaking, the L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon in titanium is produced in a limited series of 150, in honour of Chopard's 150th anniversary. (...)

Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX2 Chronograph Racing Paris
The 2009 edition of Le Mans 24 Hours thrilled both motor sports enthusiasts and fine watchmaking devotees. Fifty years on from Aston Martin's victory in the 1959 Le Mans 24 Hours, the Aston Martin Racing team has exceeded all expectations by finishing an excellent fourth overall in this year's race, having been quickest of the petrol runners from start to finish.
As part of the three-year partnership signed between the two exceptional brands this spring, Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrated Le Mans with two limited editions of the AMVOX2 Chronograph Racing model, which is still the only chronograph operating without push pieces thanks to its revolutionary patented vertical-trigger system.
Following the success of the 2 AMVOX2 Chronograph Racing presented at Le Mans 2009, Jaeger-LeCoultre just launched a new limited edition of 24 pieces of its iconic chronograph, only available at Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique in Pairs, Place Vendôme .
This exclusive edition features a black PVD-coated grade 5 titanium case with black and white dial, and black luminescent numerals. The dial decoration revealing the movement reproduces the characteristic gridwork motif of car radiator grills and is framed by a black flange. The movement bridges and plates are coated with ruthenium, while the chronograph levers in
orange eloxed aluminium appear through an opening between 4 and 8 o'clock.
Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique in Paris will receive the first pieces of this exclusive limited edition of 24 last week of November. (...)

ALFEX Black Light 5624
Alfex presents the first wristwatch in the world with a three-dimensional dial. The markings are made of transparent sapphire glass, and the hands travel under the markings. The name Black Light describes the properties that make reading the time by night a sensational experience, thanks to the markings with Superluminova.
The name Black Light is an oxymoron, which, in rhetoric, means a formulation of two contrary concepts. This figure of speech is used only if the inner contradiction is intentional and serves to create an emphatic description of a multi-faceted content. The new design piece in the Alfex family is absolutely functional by day as well as by night. Its jet black dial spreads bright light, and its unique three-dimensional design allows the wearer to virtually immerse himself in the watch. The Black Light model is an absolute must for every design addict.
All Black Line models bear the Swiss-Made label, are constructed of anti-allergenic stainless steel with an ETA movement of precious stones. In addition, the case has an anti-reflexive sapphire glass and is waterproof to 5 ATM.
Black Line models are available in select stores in two versions: steel case with integrated black leather watchband, and case with black IP cover and integrated black leather watchband. (...)

Big Bang Ayrton Senna: Act Two In Tokyo
Whereas the first Big Bang was launched during the F1 Grand Prix in Sao Paulo in 2007, today Hublot and the Instituto Ayrton Senna unveiled another side of Ayrton's life not previously seen. The doors are open to an exhibition of photographs of Ayrton taken in his private and public life by a close friend, Japanese photographer Norio Koike.
Now 50 years old, Koike met Ayrton Senna in 1988 and very quickly won his trust. A relationship of friendship and complicity enabled him to take photos of the champion at different times, often at just the right moment! Sincerity and genuine intimacy radiate from these pictures that, until today, had remained unpublished. After Ayrton Senna’s death, Norio Koike bequeathed these photos to the Instituto Ayrton Senna. Today we have the pleasure of paying tribute to his work and also support the important work of the institute that helps millions of children in Brazil.
The Instituto Ayrton Senna, a non-profit organisation, was founded to honour Senna’s ideals: his dream was to bring more dignity and equity to his country. It is dedicated to the education of children, at school as well as in society, to enable them to develop their capacities to the full. Since its foundation 14 years ago by Viviane Senna, 9.4 million children have benefited from its programs in 25 Brazilian states. Over 85 million US dollars have been invested to enable it to pursue its educational objectives.
The Big Bang Foudroyante Senna, a 500-piece numbered limited series, sports the colours of Brazil like the first edition: a yellow and green split-seconds hand, yellow minute markers, Brazilian flag on the case-side element, and Ayrton Senna’s signature in green on a matt black dial. Its split-seconds chronograph movement features a new complication, the Foudroyante, that enables the calculation of one-eighth of a second. The serial numbers on the back are engraved in yellow ink on black ceramic, and the logo “Instituto Ayrton Senna” appears as a transfer on the sapphire crystal. (...)

500 Fathoms Beneath the Sea
On the eve of the Baselworld 2009 watch show, Blancpain presents the “big sister” of its now famous Fifty Fathoms watch: the brand-new 500 Fathoms. More high-performance and high-tech than ever, the brand’s latest diver’s watch displays an uncompromisingly sporting design. Water resistant to 1000 metres, it is equipped with a helium decompression valve that is vital when diving in a closed environment. The ultra-virile 500 Fathoms is fitted with a 48 mm-diameter titanium case – an unusual size for Blancpain.
Presented as the ultimate sports watch, the 500 Fathoms is making a striking entrance into the collection of Blancpain diver’s watches. Endowed with a new face, a new size and new performances, the 500 Fathoms is water-resistant to 1000 metres. It features a brushed titanium case measuring 48 mm in diameter, equipped with a crown guard. Placed inside the case at 10 o’clock, a self-winding decompression valve guarantees the security and the reliability of the watch, without requiring any handling on the part of the wearer.
To enhance readability, Blancpain has designed large phosphorescent Arabic numerals that are hollowed into the sunray-brushed metal appliques. The luminescent coating on the hour-markers, bezel markings and hands, along with the red tip of the sweep seconds hand, ensure optimal readability in all circumstances. The luminescent base of the black dial reveals its fluorescence only in the dark, while the date appears in white against a black background at 4 o’clock. The unidirectional ratcheted bezel facilitates handling and avoids any involuntary extension of the dive time. Crafted in titanium and sapphire crystal, it features a gentle cambered relief that reduces the risk of impacts.
The 500 Fathoms is powered by the self-winding Calibre 1315, specifically designed to equip sports watches. It incorporates a glucydur balance with micrometric regulating screws, which helps to prevent any jarring from disturbing the smooth running of the watch. Three series-coupled barrels guarantee constant energy and a five-day power reserve. The calendar system enables fast adjustment of the date at midnight in both directions. Another noteworthy feature of the 500 Fathoms is its sapphire crystal allowing one to admire its self-winding movement, as well as its engraved oscillating weight shaped like a boat propeller, without compromising either water resistance or safety.
The new 500 Fathoms is equipped with a sturdy, sporty and watertight strap in rubber-lined black sail canvas. A brand-new triple-blade folding clasp secured with two pushers on either sides sets the finishing touch, while an additional rubber strap and the implement required to fit it complete the set which comes in an ultra-rugged presentation box designed to withstand extreme conditions. The performances and the reliability of the 500 Fathoms represent a major new technical accomplishment bearing the unmistakable signature of Blancpain, which is thereby eloquently reaffirming the expertise of its manufacture in the demanding world of diver’s watches. It's an Evora but not as you know it
Ahead of the official unveil at the Paris Motor Show on September 30th, Lotus announce the latest evolution of the award winning Evora – the Evora S and Evora IPS (Intelligent Precision Shift) option.
Lotus has taken the award winning* Evora and re-created it with a 350 PS 3.5l V6 engine to create the Evora S. Dany Bahar Lotus' Chief Executive Officer summed it up beautifully when he said: "You don't realise what you were missing from your driving experience until you get behind the wheel of the Evora S."
So apart from the obvious power difference, how is the Evora S different to the standard Evora? It's another question we put to the CEO (given that he's spent a little time behind the wheel, we thought he'd be best placed to answer questions). This is what he said: "It's the next level of Evora experience. It communicates with you better, the suspension setting has been fine tuned for added power and control so it responds even more to direction. It's an instinctual car, the experience is pure."
"We were proud of the Evora but we're even prouder of the Evora S, I feel like it does the true Lotus experience justice. The really great thing is that as we move forward the standard Evora should also benefit from some of these developments."
The Evora S comes with a sport pack as standard featuring a 'sport' button which allows the driver to control throttle response and activate the exhaust by-pass valve. The sport button also raises the instantaneous rev limit and changes the dynamic stability control settings resulting in a total experience change. There are cross-drilled brakes for improved cooling. And here's a heads up for those who buy into the old adage 'you can tell the men from the boys by the size of their toys': the external emotion of the Evora S has been improved with a completely new active exhaust which means that at the push of a button the car sounds just as dramatic as it feels.
Commenting on the Evora S, Lotus Chief Commercial Officer Andreas Prillmann said: "The Evora S is a natural progression for us but more than that, it's a taste of what people can come to expect from the next generation of Lotus cars. It retains core Lotus values such as performance through lightweight but it also gives more than that. It's the perfect combination of top performance, style and comfort. Form doesn't sacrifice function in the case of the Evora S."
So there you have it folks, the next generation of Lotus Evora, the Evora S, set to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.
But that's not all. In addition to the Evora S, Lotus also presents the IPS (Intelligent Precision Shift) option. This inception of the seven-time-award-winning (who's counting? We are!) Evora sees an automatic 6-speed gearbox with Lotus developed transmission control with a 3.5 l V6 engine delivering 280 PS assuring a superior automatic driving experience.
The IPS version of the Evora allows the driver to switch between manual paddle shift and automatic drive modes. The driver also has the option of selecting 'sport' mode which showcases the Lotus sport driving experience allowing the driver to really feel each gear shift and be in complete control of the transmission.
Commenting on the development Dany Bahar said: "The Evora IPS is set to broaden the appeal of the Evora and reach out to a slightly different market. We hope it will be popular with established automatic locations such as Asia, the Middle East and the US. It's been a long time since Lotus created an automatic and we've spent a great deal of time refining this one to make sure that it perfectly complements the Evora drive experience."

The new CLS - the new design icon from Mercedes-Benz
A generation ahead: with the CLS, Mercedes-Benz created a new vehicle category in 2003 which for the first time combined the elegance and dynamism of a coupé with the comfort and functionality of a saloon. The public were delighted, the competition astounded and a style icon was born: for years the CLS has endured as the only four-door coupé in its class, and since October 2004 it has been the car of choice for around 170,000 buyers worldwide. "Customers all over the world benefited from our bold move to launch a completely new vehicle concept onto the market", explains a delighted Dr. Joachim Schmidt, member of the board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales & Marketing. "And with its exciting design, the new edition of the CLS also benefits from the fact that we are a whole generation ahead of the competition with our four-door Coupé."
Celebrating its world premiere at the Paris motor show (2 - 17 October 2010), the new CLS builds on the pioneering role of its predecessor yet at the same time is an entirely new edition. "The new CLS points the way forward for the future perceptible design idiom of Mercedes-Benz", explains Professor Gorden Wagener, head of design at Mercedes-Benz. "At the same time it takes its inspiration from the great tradition of stylish, refined sportiness which has always been a feature of Mercedes coupés."
Exterior: classic Coupé styling with distinctive front
The proportions remain as spectacular as ever: long bonnet, narrow-look windows with frameless side windows, dynamic roof sweeping back at an angle towards the rear. The four-door coupé from Mercedes-Benz immediately made its mark in 2003 as a new style icon. Now the proportions are the same - and yet everything is different: the second generation of this design trendsetter has adopted a completely new look.
What immediately strikes the eye is the innovative front design, which is reminiscent of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Visually, the radiator grille is not integrated into the bonnet but is formed separately. This highlights the long, sporty bonnet even further. The grille is dominated by the large central star, which underlines the car's relationship to the other coupés of the brand and also enhances brand identity. The large, elongated dark air inlets with black grilles also add to the vehicle's athletic appearance.
Design brings high-tech features to life
Another distinguishing feature comes in the form of the full LED headlamps, which are the world's first to offer all of the regular dynamic light functions using LED technology. This innovation boasts an impressive design - inside they are divided into three arrow-shaped layers from top to bottom: the upper layer contains an LED indicator, beneath which is a striking LED side light offering low beam functions. The side light can also be seen when the dipped beam function is switched on, thereby creating a novel and separate night-time design and distinctive look. The lowest level of the headlamp houses the main beam and nightview functions. A total of 71 LEDs not only provide an unmistakable appearance, but also a significantly enhanced view of the road compared with previous systems.
The typical CLS outline, with its elegantly long proportions, is the dominating attribute of the new model. The effect of the dynamic, athletic form has been enhanced with a new interplay of lines and areas. The front edge of the structure, above the mudguards, which slopes off towards the rear - known as the dropping line by designers - is not only a novel design feature but also represents a new interpretation of a formal design element harking back to the uniquely rich wealth of forms present in historic Mercedes sports cars.
A distinctive and muscular sports car-like shoulder line above the rear axle highlights the athletic character of the new CLS. The flared wheel arches resemble the powerful thighs of a feline predator waiting to pounce.
The side view is rounded off with wide wrap-around tail lights featuring LED technology which are arranged in the form of a linking element to the rear of the vehicle. The shape is emphasized by the broad shoulder line, which is clearly visible from behind and supports the flat hardtop. A wide metal insert adds a further visual highlight at the rear.
The interior: design brings quality to life
The interior of the CLS is also distinguished by a timeless design which combines straightforward elegance with innovative details and handcrafted perfection. An eye-catching feature is the wrap-around effect of the cockpit: a high line sweeps from the driver's door over the instrument panel support and across to the front passenger door. The central display has also been integrated harmoniously into the upper part of the instrument panel. At the same time, the downward sweeping side line on the doors continues the dynamic dropping line of the exterior.
As a design trendsetter, the CLS sets new standards in interiors with its wide variety of individualisation options. Five interior colours, five trim designs and also three qualities of leather are available to choose from. As a result, each CLS is a one-off piece and can be configured individually between warm naturalness and cool modernity.
The CLS also lives up to its role as a design icon thanks to the innovative nature of the materials used. These comprise an exciting mixture of satin and high-gloss finishes used on the metal surfaces. Highlights here also include matt galvanised air vents, for example, which form the ideal framework for a high-gloss-trimmed analogue clock.
Handcrafted perfection is reflected in details such as the stitched seat covers or the so-called sewn covering for the dashboard. For the latter, the individual parts of the leather cover are sewn together by hand in a process which takes several hours, after which they are fitted and upholstered with high-quality foam. Prior to this process, the leather is also heated up to preshrink it, so that it will retain its shape even after extreme exposure to direct sunlight.
The particularly fine, 1.6 millimetre thick semi-aniline PASSION leather which is used meets the highest standards in terms of both look and feel. Protected by only a light pigmentation, the natural pore structure remains intact and the leather has an especially warm and soft feel to it. Since the natural characteristics also remain visible for the most part, the semi-aniline leather requires a very precise manual selection process.
The refined sportiness of the interior of the CLS is further reflected in the generous use of high-quality trim elements. They are located on the instrument panel support of the centre console and on parts of the door linings. Customers can choose between three exclusive types of wood: high-gloss brown burr walnut, high-gloss black ash and satin-finish light-brown poplar. The wood has even been perfectly fitted around difficult contours for a masterful handcrafted finish, and the wood trim has been matched according to grain, as part of an elaborate selection process, to create a harmonised overall impression.
The interior can be given an even more progressive look with the addition of piano lacquer or carbon fibre trim elements. Handcrafted perfection once again plays a prominent role in the production process. Up to seven layers are applied and polished for the piano lacquer trim, for example, until the desired high-gloss finish is achieved. (...)

Renntech SL65 AMG Black Series
RENNTECH has teamed up with Domani Motors to create this show stopping, tarmac shredding SL65 AMG Black Series. Since the release of RENNTECHs Performance Package 1 for the Black Series, it has created quite the buzz within the international tuning market. Domani Motors, one of the largest and most respected exotic, sports, and luxury automobile dealers in the U.S. called up RENNTECH to outfit their beautiful pearl white Black Series. The now RENNTECH modded SL produces a staggering 805 HP and 1000 LB-FT of torque at the crank.

The Super-Lock LSDs clutch packs make the unit incredibly quiet and smooth, without the kind of chatter usually associated with limited-slip cars. (...)

Land Rover unveils 2011 Freelander 2
The 2011 Freelander 2 model range, on sale in the UK from the end of September 2010, benefits from a new 2.2-litre diesel engine available with either 150PS or 190PS outputs, a new look exterior plus interior alterations including new instrument dials and a new Premium Pack option.
Land Rover’s new turbo diesel engine is available in the 4WD TD4 150PS model featuring a manual transmission and intelligent Stop/Start technology as standard (an automatic gearbox without Stop/Start is available as a cost option), or the new SD4 model delivering 190PS (available in automatic transmission only).
This new engine is quieter, more efficient and both derivatives have 20Nm more torque than the outgoing engine. This means the 2011 Freelander 2 offers improved engine response and more mid-range strength for towing. CO2 emissions have been significantly reduced to 165g/km and 185g/km respectively with corresponding fuel economy benefits.
However, despite reductions in consumption and emissions, there has been no compromise in performance. The flagship 190PS Freelander SD4 accelerates from rest to 60mph in 8.7 seconds with an increased top speed of 118mph. The Freelander 150PS TD4 manual and automatic versions match the performance of their predecessors.
As well as being upgraded from EU4 to EU5, both versions have a new variable geometry turbocharger and have been extensively re-calibrated to deliver new levels of power, meet emissions regulations and reduce CO2 emissions. They are fitted with a catalysed diesel particulate filter as standard and are now compatible with 10 per cent biodiesel rather than 5 per cent.
As an addition to the Freelander 2 range, Land Rover will also offer customers a 2WD derivative, available in the UK from January 2011. This will be called the Freelander 2 eD4 and it will be the most efficient Land Rover ever produced, with fuel consumption of 47.2mpg combined, and CO2 emissions of just 158g/km.
“The new Freelander 2 eD4 moves Land Rover into the hugely popular and fiercely contested two wheel-drive SUV market,” said Land Rover managing director Phil Popham. “The European market for two-wheel drive SUVs represents 23 percent of the segment and we intend to compete strongly here.
“A 2WD option is just one way in which we are developing our vehicles’ efficiency whilst adding to the Land Rover range and expanding our appeal to a broader group of customers. We will continue to make the ‘world’s finest all-terrain vehicles’ for those customers who require 4WD but will also now offer an alternative.”
This groundbreaking Freelander 2 eD4 is powered by the new 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, delivering 150PS. It is only available with a six-speed manual transmission featuring Stop/Start technology as standard.
The exterior of the latest Freelander 2 gets a new look for 2011. Marked out by a new front bumper assembly incorporating new front fog lap bezels, a new front grille finish, improved headlights and tail lamps, new full width tailgate appliqué and new 18- or 19-inch alloy wheel styles. There are three new colour schemes for 2011 Kosrae Green, Baltic Blue and Fuji White.
Inside the cabin, Land Rover’s design team have revised the instrument dials, and there are four new seat styles with the option of a Premium Pack that includes Windsor Leather upholstery, an 8/6 way electric seat, plus premium carpet mats and covered centre stowage. (...)

Ferrari 458 Challenge
The fine tuning of the newly born Ferrari 458 Challenge continues and, as from yesterday, it was at the Vallelunga circuit for a test, with two drivers, the Italian Maurizio Mediani and the Argentine Jaime Melo, taking on the role of test driver, as they took turns at the wheel of the Prancing Horse sports car. At the end of two days at the Roman circuit, both men were pleased with what had been achieved.
According to Mediani the 458 Challenge is “very quick and extremely good fun,” its handling inherited from the road going car from which it is derived, combined with modifications made for its specific use in racing. Melo, just back from the fifth round of the American Le Mans Series, in which he races a F430 GT2 run by Team Risi Competizione, highlighted how much the driving experience is enhanced by the electronics systems operated with the now classic manettino on the steering wheel, a first for a car used in the Ferrari one-make series. “I am sure that Prancing Horse competition owners will be very pleased with this car,” commented the Argentine before leaving the circuit to prepare for the next ALMS round, which takes place on 7 August at the Mid Ohio circuit. Aesthetic and athletic – the Audi A7 Sportback
Emotion-packed design, sporty character and innovative technology: Audi is targeting a new market segment with the A7 Sportback. The large five-door model with the dynamically accentuated rear end brings together the best of three worlds: the sporty elegance of a coupe, the comfort of a sedan and the practicality of a station wagon.
The A7 Sportback is pure high-tech. Its body is very lightweight thanks to numerous aluminum components. The elegant interior shows a craftsman’s level of workmanship. The four V6 engines combine refined power with groundbreaking efficiency. The 3.0 TDI with 150 kW (204 hp) and multitronic has CO2 emissions of just 139 grams per kilometer (223.70 g/mile). The sporty chassis comes with new solutions, such as electromechanical power steering. When it comes to assistance and infotainment systems, the luxury-class coupe exhibits all of the innovative power expected of Audi.
The five-door coupe from Audi combines supreme, long-distance comfort with a sporty character. The interior noise level is very low even at fast highway speeds, with the V6 engines providing refined acoustic feedback as their power unfolds.
The excellent vibrational comfort likewise contributes to the atmosphere of cultured tranquility on board. This is the result of painstakingly tuning all components, systematic hydraulic damping in the axle and drivetrain bearings and the extremely stiff body. The body is comprised primarily of aluminum and high-tech steels, making it extremely lightweight and safe. The large rear hatch opens wide to reveal a large, extremely usable luggage compartment that is very easy to load. Its 535-liter (18.89 cu ft) capacity swells to a volume of 1,390 liters (49.09 cu ft) with the rear seat backrests folded down.
With the A7 Sportback, which will be rolling into dealerships in the fall at a base price of €51,600, Audi is taking up a new design line representing elegance on a grand scale. The five-door coupe is 4.97 meters (16.31 ft) long and 1.91 meters (6.27 ft) wide, but only 1.42 meters (4.66 ft) high. Its long hood, the short front overhang, the long wheelbase, the sportily flowing C-pillars and the sharply dropping rear create a dynamic overall impression. The five-door coupe is an aesthetic athlete with a wide, powerful road stance.
Optional LED headlights reinforce the unmistakable expression of the A7 Sportback and provide all light functions with light-emitting diodes while minimizing energy consumption. Bi-xenon headlights and LED tail lights come standard. The innovative all-weather light function has also been integrated into the headlights, replacing the classic fog lights.
The sinewy sportiness of the exterior carries over into the interior of the A7 Sportback, where Audi again demonstrates its leading role in automotive design. The salient element is the “wrap-around,” a horizontal line that encircles the driver and front-seat passenger in the interior to provide a feeling of safety and security. The wave-shaped application strip with its integrative dynamics is the salient element of the dashboard.
The utmost care has been devoted to every last detail in the interior. Workmanship is at a craftsman’s level. Optional climate-control and massage functions are available for the front seats covered in high-grade Audi leathers. The optional ambient lighting fills the entire interior with atmosphere.
Like Audi’s A8 flagship, the A7 Sportback also combines a new level of technical intelligence with logical, intuitive ergonomics and self-explanatory operation. The advanced MMI operating system with central menu button and reduced number of buttons comes standard, while one of the options is a new head-up display that projects the most important information on the windshield. The MMI touch system combines a hard drive navigation system with the convenience of touchpad input.
The driver can use the touchpad to perform numerous functions, such as using his or her finger to write the letters of the destination or the digits of the telephone number.
The online services work together with Google to connect the five-door Audi coupe to the Internet via the Bluetooth car phone. A UMTS module delivers images and information from Google Earth to the monitor and combines them with the navigation route. A WLAN hotspot is used to connect mobile devices. Further to the Bose sound system, the top-of-the-line option is the Advanced Sound System from Bang & Olufsen featuring 1,300 watts of power and 15 speakers.
The top navigation system works closely together with the many optional driver assistance and safety systems in the A7 Sportback. It forwards the route data to the control units for the headlights, the automatic transmission and the adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, enabling these systems to recognize complex scenarios. In many cases, the Audi pre sense safety system can reduce the severity of accidents and their consequences. The new Audi active lane assist helps the driver to keep the A7 Sportback firmly on course, and the new park assist system relieves the driver of the chore of steering when parallel parking.
Audi will initially offer the A7 Sportback with a choice of four powerful and cultivated V6 engines: two gasoline and two TDI units. Their power output ranges from 150 kW (204 hp) to 220 kW (300 hp), and their efficiency sets impressive new standards in the vehicle class. The new 3.0 TDI with 150 kW (204 hp) and multitronic consumes on average just 5.3 liters of fuel per 100 km (44.38 US mpg), corresponding to CO2 emissions of just 139 g per km (223.70 g/mile). All engines use Audi’s innovative thermal management system, a recuperation system and a start-stop system.
The standard automatic transmissions also play a role in the high efficiency of the Audi A7 Sportback. Audi offers two different transmissions depending on the engines: The continuous multitronic sends the power to the front wheels, while the sporty seven-speed S tronic works together with quattro permanent all-wheel drive. The latest evolutionary stage of quattro features a crown-gear center differential and torque vectoring.
The drive system is particularly flexible and dynamic. The optional sport differential actively distributes the power between the rear wheels.
The chassis also combines sporty precision with luxurious comfort. The Audi A7 Sportback rolls on large wheels measuring from 18 to 20 inches in diameter. The chassis features aluminum control arms and a newly developed power steering system with an electromechanical drive for high efficiency. The Audi drive select dynamics system is standard and can be supplemented by the optional adaptive air suspension with controlled damping. (...)

Matt Jackson with ‘After FX Customs’ will meet with you to help you select show-winning custom paint options that run the gamut from ‘mild to wild’. He will also help you select show-quality interior options from ‘race’ to ‘sport’ to ‘luxury’ if you prefer. Each car will be unique and hand-built by award-winning craftsmen to fit your specific preferences while meeting our own tight carbon fiber body tolerances and standards of excellence associated with the world’s top luxury cars. Simply put, you will not be able to buy a better, faster car at any price. The Dagger is based on a creative mid-engine concept car, by industrial designer Ivan Luccion. The current CAD design is by the talented Tom Van Ryn. Please refer to our detailed specs on our “specifications” page.
2000 Horsepower and 300 mph This is the website for the Dagger GT, the world’s fastest, 2000 horsepower, 300 mph, mid-engine Supercar. The ‘Super’ in ‘Supercar’ will soon have a new meaning. Our aerodynamicist (consultant to NASA) has calculated that our 300 mph goal is achievable based on preliminary horsepower, frontal area, coefficient of drag and drag-area computations. We will add the hardtop and add ballast to run at this speed at Bonneville. Two experienced 300 mph Bonneville record-holder racers have also suggested that we should be able to reach our 300 mph goal.
No. 1 Top Team - The Dagger GT™ will be produced by an All-American All-star team of existing, experienced, proven race car builders, engine builders and racing parts suppliers. Phil Frank, the designer of the former world record holder, the Saleen S7, is on the team as our Consulting Director of Design. Tom Nelson routinely produces 2000 hp multi-fuel twin-turbo 572 cubic-inch racing engines for his many satisfied clients. Mike Mendeola will provide a custom, 6-speed, 300 mph transaxle and is the top US transaxle fabricator. Alan Wisniewski is, a proven race car and show car winner and racing chassis-builder. Alan will provide the rugged Chromoly chassis. Dagger components are made in the USA and are state-of-the-art, but proven, reliable, off-the-rack, low-risk technologies. There are no rookies on our team nor any unproven parts in the Dagger.
World Record Goals - The Dagger is being designed specifically to break the 300 mphbarrier and be the first-ever street-legal Supercar to do it. The Dagger GT™ will be a mid-engine, limited production, streetable, racing roadster that is expected to establish world records in its class for top speed, slalom and acceleration. The Dagger will feature a removable hardtop. This car will attempt a world record-setting top speed of 300 mph, for street-legal sports cars at Bonneville and it will run at the Virginia International Raceway to attempt to secure the “Lightning Lap” record on the USA’s top road course. It has been mathematically computed that the car will run under 6.7 seconds and over 200 mph in the quarter mile and less than 1.5 seconds for the zero-to-sixty record. The Dagger’s competing ‘supercars’ run over 2.8 seconds in the 0 to 60 and over 9.8 seconds in the quarter mile. The Dagger’s nearest competitors will not be close in terms of performance or value. This will not be a debatable issue once the performance runs are completed and independently timed in early 2011.
In short, this will be the number one performing supercar in the world. It will have a unique, dazzling ‘edgy’ appearance and will feature a polished Nelson Racing Engines multi-fuel aluminum 572 Twin Turbo. The vehicle components will include 100% off-the-shelf, proven technology and will be fabricated by the top race car builders in the U.S. Not one dollar of your investment will go to foreign companies nor foreign labor overseas.
Programmable Horsepower - Tom Nelson’s 2000 HP engine is amazing. It will automatically add boost and increase racing fuel/methanol mix depending on the fuel and boost map you specify and we input into the engine management computer. It produces 1300 HP on pump gas and 2000 HP on race fuel which are provided via two fuel tanks and dual fuel injectors for each cylinder. If driven normally, with a light foot, fuel consumption is not unreasonable for a big block engine. At 300 mph please expect to empty the gas tanks in under 6 minutes…which will be a few minutes after the street tires melt! (Land-speed tires are one of our many options offered that you get to choose from as part of your purchase... so you can reach “empty” at 300 mph without the tires melting)
Pricing for this car is subject to change and has not yet been finalized but will be in the $400,000+ range depending on the options you prefer to include in your custom vehicle. You may customize your vehicle to your tastes with a host of combinations of options available. For example, you may choose a ‘race’, ‘sport’, or ‘luxury’ interior with real wood, leather and velour finishes, if you wish.
Brand Name - Someone asked us, “How are you going to compete with brand name luxury cars like the Bugatti Veyron, the Ferrari Enzo, etc.?” We said, “Our brand will be displayed in the timing lights. We will be branded by our performance.” How does “world’s fastest” sound to you as a brand? Do you want a ‘prancing horsey’ logo or a stampede of two thousand horses? The Dagger GT is a ‘performance dagger’ in the heart of its restricted and compromised “competitors.” Case closed. The custom-made Dagger GT is strictly for enthusiasts that are not satisfied with 200 to 250 mph cars, and 600 to1200 hp cars that cost over $650,000 to over two million dollars. (...)
